Educational Needs

Further and higher educational or vocational studies

Individual students, between the ages of 16 and State Retirement Age, may apply for educational grants to support study in a wide variety of courses at local colleges in addition to Universities and Colleges throughout the country and the Open University. Qualifying courses include HND, Degree and Post-graduate courses. In addition, part-time vocational courses may also qualify. Please enquire to see if your proposed course qualifies you for a grant.

Applications normally open in July and close by the third week of September and are currently only assessed for income if you are aged 25 and over at the start of your course. Full details are advertised in the Evesham Journal and are provided to local high schools. Refer to the ‘News’ or "downloads" section of these pages for updates when available.

All applicants must have been permanently resident in the town of Evesham for at least 12 months immediately prior to 1st September in the year of the application.

School uniform costs

Grants may be available to assist with the cost of school uniform for children aged 4 – 18. Applications can only be considered in respect of children living with a parent or guardian in the town of Evesham and are subject to an income assessment. Uniform grants are limited to one per child per school e.g. first, middle and high school.

Educational visits and music, arts and sports activities

Grants may be available to students aged 4 – 18 who are resident in the town of Evesham for suitable activities including school trips, music lessons / instrument hire, sporting activities. Applications will be subject to an income assessment. One grant per child per academic year is allowed for music / sport / club activities and one school trip per school per child.

"Standards of Excellence" Awards

Grants may be awarded for students aged 4 - 18 who are resident in the town of Evesham for achieving a "standard of excellence" in a sporting or arts / music area. A "standard of excellence" would normally be regarded as a representative honour or coaching / performance selection at a county level, or above, but Trustees retain the discretion to recognise other achievements where the applicant has achieved recognition in the face of adversity. Applications are not subject to financial assessment but only one grant per child in any 12 month period is available for a "standard of excellence" under this scheme.
